Aug. 29, 2025

Autumn officially begins on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 8:19 p.m. The autumn part of our festival begins earlier, on September 3, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. with a concert entitled Not Only Eyes, But Mind to God!, which we borrowed from one of the authors who will be featured at the concert, Maurus Haberhauer. The concert, part of the Canonia Neorisensis series, is organized by the Novoříšský kulturní spolek (Nové Říše Cultural Association) and the Premonstratensian Canonry in Nové Říše in cooperation with our festival.

Information about the composers whose works will be performed:

Antonín Laube came from Most and studied at the Jesuit grammar school in Chomutov. He was an important Prague composer of the mid-18th century, successor to František Xaver Brixi as bandmaster of Prague Cathedral, where he worked until the end of his life.

Pavel Vranický, a native of Nová Říše, was a renowned master of Viennese Classicism, respected by Haydn and Beethoven. At the age of 29, he became music director of both court orchestras in Vienna and held this position until his death. He was involved in all areas of compositional practice at the time and created a distinctive style in the spirit of Haydn and Mozart.

Anton Fils was a German classical composer. He studied law and theology at the University of Ingolstadt and in 1754 became a cellist in the Mannheim court orchestra under the leadership of its founder, Jan Václav Stamic.

Maurus Haberhauer (real name Josef František) is a Moravian composer who is almost forgotten today. He came from Svitavy, studied with the Jesuits in Brno, and subsequently entered the Benedictine monastery in Rajhrad. Here he worked as a theologian and director of the famous choir at St. Peter and Paul's. He devoted himself to both sacred and instrumental music. His early late Baroque sacred works soon developed into highly classical compositions of European standard.
