About the festival
The international festival "Music of Thousands" Mahler Jihlava has been associated with Jihlava since 2001 and takes place regularly from May to September.
The festival's musical program focuses on the works of Gustav Mahler and highlights the relationship between Czech and Austrian musical culture. Top classical performers participate in the festival.
Concerts are held mainly in Jihlava at Holy Cross´ Elevation Church, in the large Gothic hall of the Jihlava Town Hall, Gustav Mahler Park, the Music- and Art School, and the Horácké Theater i, but also in other locations in the Vysočina region, such as Nová Říše, which is associated with the composer Pavel Vranický, and Kaliště near Humpolec, where Gustav Mahler was born and where his birthplace is preserved.
Leading Czech and foreign artists have performed at the festival, including Thomas Hampson, Gábor Boldocki, Jiří Rajniš, and others.
The festival is part of the so-called Jihlava Family Silver, set of promoting and representing the city of Jihlava in the Czech Republic and abroad.
